FOCUS AREAS
INSTRUCTION
My teaching style is collaborative and rooted in engaged pedagogy. In addition to teaching primary source literacy both in person and online, I coordinate the primary source literacy instruction for the UWM Libraries’ Distinctive Collections—UWM Archives, UWM Special Collections, and the American Geographical Society Library. I teach because I want to support students in becoming healthy humans who are discerning, empathetic, and empowered. My approach to primary source literacy instruction is designed to foster these dispositions.
OUTREACH
From family education sessions at Milwaukee County Parks to research workshops for genealogists, I'm always looking for ways to connect people to the amazing stories in archives. During the pandemic I shifted my efforts online and developed a number of successful digital exhibits and online workshops.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I use social media to demystify archives and primary sources for a variety of audiences. Social media is a fantastic platform for informing, entertaining, and building connections with people who might otherwise never visit an archives.
